INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

SUNDAY march 8 from 12pm

  1. Women had to fight for the right to vote

  2. Women had to fight to get divorces

  3. Woman had to fight to get bank accounts in their name

  4. Women had to fight to be in the workplace

So let’s all get paid the same, shall we?

As a small gift, on Sunday 8 March all women will receive a 21 per cent discount over the bar all day long.

Unfortunately female-dominated workplaces have never been seen as valuable because a woman was just in that role until she got married and had kids.

These are the workplaces that have had very little change over the years; teaching, daycare centres, shop assistants. These are a few of the 'female' industries that have had very little involvement with unions etc. Although a male and a female may be getting paid in the same position in the company, the gender pay gap looks at the unfortunate fact that more often than not female-dominated industries are seen as less valuable.

The gender pay gap also recognises that women are often over-looked for promotions, not hire for roles as they “might become pregnant” and often struggle to get back into the workforce after having children.
